A small group of participants will make an icon using time honoured techniques in the Byzantine Style using the Russian Float method with egg tempera paints many made from precious stones such as azurite and malachite etc. Participants will learn the application of gold leaf and methods of its decoration. The materials used in creating the image will impart a jewel like quality upon the gessoed icon board.
